Winding down...
Welcome to the final installment of the Japan 2017 photographic journey through Tokyo. While the trip was extremely fun and I was inundated with photographic opportunities all over, it was ultimately time to head back home to Australia. Everything about Japan was memorable, from the trains, food, temples and people. I will definitely be back in the future, with the other parts of Japan to be visited!
It would be amiss to not mention that Olympus has crafted something truly amazing with the OMD EM10 camera and 12-40mm lens. This combination is truly a force to be reckoned with. The image quality produced by this lens, even with the limitations of a micro four-thirds sensor, meant that I was constantly getting high quality shots with exceptional sharpness. This lens, although pricey, is absolutely worth it for the money if you have any interest at all in photography. A small body meant that I remained mostly invisible, with many ignoring the camera due to the assumption that because it isn't a large and heavy DSLR, it is not a serious camera.
Thank you for making it this far, and I hope that you enjoy the final installment of photos.
Ueno (上野)

We did not see many homeless people in Tokyo, unfortunately and contrary to popular belief, one does not have to travel far in Tokyo to find people undergoing difficult times

Racing cars

Underground passageway connecting to the metro station

Shibamata (柴又)
The train to Shibamata was a smaller local train that ran on a single track. There were less tourists in this town and this meant that it felt a lot more local and gave a more authentic impression of suburban Tokyo.

Yokohama (横浜市)
After visiting the town of Shibamata, we decided to take a long train journey to Yokohama to visit the famous cup noodle museum and to watch some fireworks. Apparently the next day was a public holiday known as "Marine Day", celebrating the importance of the ocean to Japan (thanks Wikipedia!).

Just keep looking down!

Waiting for the lights

Unfortunately when we arrived at the cup noodle museum, they had sold out of tickets for the custom cup noodle workshop, the prime attraction that brought us here in the first place.

The atrium of the cup noodle museum. Everyone resting their tired feet by sitting on the steps.

Apparently there is a 'Nice' flavor!

Waiting for the fireworks. I was quite lucky in that I received a prime viewing position despite arriving later when it felt like the whole of Tokyo was in position and waiting for the fireworks

The fireworks were very impressive and absolutely worth the long journey down!

Heading back after the fireworks. The traffic was relatively heavy.

The Yokohama Landmark Tower

Not a view easily forgotten

This concludes the final part of the photography project that involved a trip to Tokyo, Japan in July 2017. Thank you for making it this far. I will definitely be going back in the future!
